Anyone can log in and access the database by entering "guest" in the username and password box. However, we have provided significant additional features for those employers who register to use this database. These features are listed later in this explanation. Employers may be defined as...
and anyone else who falls into a supervisory / hiring role at your station.
Before you can gain access to the database and begin your search, you are required to fill out our signup form. This form will ask you to provide information such as name, address, phone, username, password, etc ... Your information will be used exclusively at TVJobs.com, and will be held in the strictest of confidence. [ Privacy Policy ] We do not build lists from this information and sell to third party vendors. All submitted information will be used to make the myriad of features of this website, perform as designed.
To ensure the security of this database, and to prevent unauthorized use of the built-in "Advanced Features" you will learn about in a moment, TVJobs.com verifies each new account by phone. This is done to ensure that those who are requesting access... are who they say they are. To illustrate the need for verification, let's look at one of the "advanced features" we provide for Registered Employers that involves prompting an employee to send a tape of their work (to you). With a simple checkbox and clicking on a "GO" button with your mouse, our system will instantly send an e-mail message to the employee asking them to send a tape of their work to you. If we did not verify that you were in a hiring/supervisory position, employees may be sending tapes to someone who was not an employer, who just wanted to see if the feature actually worked. This could get quite costly to those who can least afford it. Verification also provides a measure of deterrance, in the event that someone from your station registers as an employer and says that they are the News Director in an attempt to get full access to the database, when actually they are not. A quick phone call will protect all parties involved. The final security precaution we employ is to send a test message to the e-mail address supplied during the employer registration process. If the message is not delivered to the intended recipient and bounces, this indicates to us that there may be a problem with the account and will prompt us to do some further checking ... To wrap this discussion up, verfication provides protection for everyone involved, and is designed to be thorough yet minimally intrusive.
The E-Résumé Database at TVJobs.com will always be free for employers to use ... just like our Job Center, where you can manage your on-line job listings.
For the sake of argument, let's assume you have filled out the on-line registration form, successfully passed our verification process and are ready to use the database. Upon entering your username and password, you successfully login to the E-Résumé Database and are ready to start searching. The search area allows you to search by ...
...and sort those results alphabetically, by city, by state, or by market size. Once the sort has taken place, the results of your search are displayed in a table and include:
Each name included in the search results are hyperlinked to the detailed information contained in our database. When a hyperlink is clicked on, our system extracts the detailed information from the database and displays a résumé that includes their:
You can easily navigate your search results by clicking on each name in the table, or view each result sequentially by selecting (Next) or (Back) at the bottom of each résumé. In addition to these features, each "Registered Employer" has their own personal "admin area", where you can make selections to perform the following tasks. At your request and on your behalf, our system will:
These "advanced functions" simply require that you select a "check box" and click on a "GO" button at the bottom of the page. From that point on our system will take over these mundane tasks, freeing up your time to do more searching. Of course, if you need more personal contact, you can call or e-mail an individual right from their résumé. The phone number and address we use to perform these automated tasks will be extracted from the information your provide during the registration process. During the registration process, you will be asked to provide a Direct Phone Number and a Station Phone Number. The Direct Phone Number will be used by our staff to verify your account. The Station Phone Number will be used when you request people to call you. Be sure not to transpose these two numbers! As always, TVJobs.com will keep your submitted information strictly confidential. [ Privacy Policy ] Once you have gone through the search process once, searching will become second nature, with you ordering a search, obtaining results, reading through résumés, saving those that look promising, and automatically contacting people if additional information is required. We have designed this area to be as simple as possible, considering the high level of complexity that has been programmed in. If you run into problems, or think we need to expand this description, please contact us with your suggestions.
